TMF8701 ToF Distance Sensor (I2C)
TMF8701 ToF Distance Sensor (I2C)
PLEX-08-0003-8701The TMF8701 is a time-of-flight (ToF) distance sensor that uses the time difference between light pulses to measure distance. It provides detection of a single area of an object, regardless of the color, reflectivity and texture of the object.
The TMF8701 provides high dynamic range and operates in either proximity mode (1-10cm) or distance mode (10-60cm) for sensor detection. The device can also perform highly accurate distance measurements with an accuracy of ±5% and is capable of operating in dark environments and in the presence of sunlight.
A built-in histogram is provided to provide dynamic coverglass calibration and crosstalk compensation, and background light noise is minimized by on-chip sunlight rejection filters.
The TMF8701 outputs data via a high-speed I2C communication interface and an integrated microcontroller, which is provided with all the algorithms included on the chip, without the need for external optics.
